Hitmen win in Battle Creek
DBA Hitmen win the Battle Creek
Mayor's Invitational Tournament in the Micky Mantle Silver Division.
Coming off a huge win in the USSSA State Championship, the Hitmen headed
for Battle Creek, and the Mayor's Invitational, to try and win their 2nd
tournament of the season. The Hitmen suffered their first loss of the
season as they lost the opening game to the Diamond Studz in a repeat of
what happened in the previous season. Unhappy with their performance,
the players refocused on their goal and dedicated their remaining games
to team mate Mike Newcomb who was in the hospital, undergoing major hip
surgery. The Hitmen proceeded to win their remaining (5) games giving
them the #1 seed in the Championship game against the Summit City
Sluggers from Indiana. The Hitmen wasted no time by putting up 10 runs
on the board in the first(2)innings. They then went on to win the game
with an 11-2 score giving them 2nd tournament win.
